New patients can submit consultation requests when we are accepting new patients. We indicate on our home page whether we are taking new patients at any given time. Current patients can reach us by phone or by the secure patient information portal. Responses may take up to 2 business days for established patient requests. Please note that medications will not be adjusted over the phone.
  • What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?
Psychodynamic psychotherapy (PDPT) focuses on the root of psychological suffering through self-examination and self-reflection. Through exploring your history, current experiences, and relationships with others and with your therapist, you will better understand your problematic relationship patterns and emotional blind spots. The goal is not just symptom relief but also long lasting change and fulfillment. PDPT is a long term treatment with a minimum frequency of weekly meetings. PDPT is an investment and there is nothing better to invest in than yourself.
  • Do you offer EMDR?
Drs. Gao and Thomas both offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and integrate it, as appropriate, into their practices.
  • How do I get started?
Complete the consultation request for new patients. We will reach out to you regarding your consultation request within 5 business days.
  • What is a consultation period?
The consultation period is the time where we determine whether our approach and style is a good fit for your treatment. This can take up to our first four meetings. The consultation period ranges 1 to 4 sessions. In the event that we do not feel that Reverie is a good fit for your treatment, we will provide you with appropriate referrals. We will not prescribe medications until we decide to continue work beyond the consultation period.

If you cancel within 2 business days, you will be charged a $150 fee for follow-up visits or a $200 fee for new patient visits. If you do not present for a scheduled appointment (“no show”), you will be charged the full appointment fee ($250 for follow-up and $325 for new patient visit) Note that insurance will not reimburse cancellation/no-show fees. We will not schedule a follow-up appointment until the cancellation fee is paid.

Generally, if you have not been seen in the office for over 3 months, we will not refill the medication until you are seen again.
